The 2 Gems, Linda “LD” Dorsey & Tinesha “The Diva” Mahomes, sit down with Trailblazer Lynette Woodard and delve into her legendary career. They explore Lynette’s early life and introduction to basketball, a journey marked by her resilience and determination. Her standout college career at Kansas University and her breaking barriers as the first female Harlem Globetrotter testifies to her unwavering spirit. Lynette played in the 1980 & 1984 Olympics; she was a captain of the 1984 Gold medal team; we move on to discuss her international basketball career and how that led her to Wall Street, showcasing her versatility and adaptability. Then, in 1995, at the young age of 39, the WNBA called; Lynette talked about how she knew she had to answer the call and did so in grand fashion, a true inspiration for all aspiring athletes. Lynette was the record holder for the most points scored by a woman in Division I basketball with 3649 points. She held this record for 43 years; the record was broken by Caitlin Clark earlier this year. We discussed the NCAA not acknowledging Lynette and other players from the AIAW, while they, in contrast, honor the coach’s records, hoping that the NCAA will fix this and recognize those such as Lynette who are so deserving. Tune in and enjoy listening to a Legend.
