Global warming is intensifying the interaction between the Indian Summer Monsoons and the Westerlies in the Himalayas. As temperatures rise, the Westerlies are shifting their traditional patterns. This confluence leads to excessive and unpredictable rainfall in the Himalayan region.  The sporadic heavy rainfall destabilizes mountain terrains, resulting in landslides.  It poses a severe threat to Himalyan people and community and ecology.
